The passion and intensity in this song is beyond description. Not to mention his range…sensational. The arrangement and musicians are phenomenal – like a hand in a glove. Beautifully done. He heard this song done by Nina Simone and loved it. Decided to record it as the final cut on Station to Station. Many others have done this song but they don’t meet his depth of emotion. I am addicted to this song. Just play it over and over in the car. Makes me feel like I’m flying and I’ve got the speeding ticket to show for it. Going to court to tell the judge I couldn’t help it.
David Bowie recorded a version of “Wild Is the Wind” for his 1976 album Station to Station. Bowie was an admirer of Simone’s style
The final song on David Bowie’s 1976 album Station To Station, Wild Is The Wind
Love me, love me, love me, love me Say you do Let me fly away With you For my love is like The wind And wild is the wind Wild is the wind Give me more Than one caress Satisfy this Hungriness Let the wind Blow through your heart For wild is the wind Wild is the wind You Touch me I hear the sound Of mandolins You Kiss me With your kiss My life begins You’re spring to me All things To me Don’t you know you’re Life itself Like a leaf clings To the tree Oh my darling, Cling to me For we’re like creatures Of the wind Wild is the wind Wild is the wind You Touch me I hear the sound Of mandolins You Kiss me With your kiss My life begins You’re spring to me All things To me Don’t you know you’re Life itself Like a leaf clings To the tree Oh my darling, Cling to me For we’re like creatures In the wind And wild is the wind Wild is the wind Wild is the wind Wild is the wind Wild is the wind
