Daily flights will depart from Bangkok for Udon Thani in the morning at 7.20 am with Udon ThaniBangkok flights scheduled to leave at 9.10 am. Flight time is 70 minutes in each direction. On Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday there will be a second flight between the two destinations departing from Bangkok in the afternoon at 4.25 pm.

UdonThani Location, Udon Thani Airport is located near northern border with Laos and is frequently used as a transit point to Vientiane, Laos via Nong Khai Friendship bridge. Vientiane, the capital of Laos, is about one and a half hours away across the Mekong river.

If there are more than two of you, it may be cheaper to call a taxi (Tel. +66 42 323239) or to use Grab ride-hailing service, which (as of January 2019) costs 160 Thai Baht to/from central Udon. Taxis are not permitted to wait for passengers at the airport, but some do it anyway, asking 200-400 Thai Baht for the 4 km journey. Some hotels have pickup services and may take an extra passenger or two if space permits.

Currently, Udon Thani is already connected to Bangkok by flights of several airlines including Nok Air, Thai AirAsia, Thai Lion Air and Thai Smile. Other destinations available from Udon Thani are Chiang MaiPhuketPattaya U-Tapao airport and Hat Yai. Thai VietJet is the first airline that will offer direct flights between Udon Thani and Chiang Rai.
