After months of strict travel restrictions because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Thailand is gearing up for a return to normalcy by easing some travel restrictions and quarantine requirements to allow tourists to enter the country.

Travelers around the world are now keen to find out when and how they can travel to Thailand in 2022. What important things do travelers need to know about Thailand Travel Restrictions if they are planning to fly to the Land of Smiles? Here is some helpful information for you.

THAILAND TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS UPDATES

Thailand Travel Restrictions for December 2022

  • Travelers entering Thailand are not required to show Proof of Vaccination or COVID-19 test results. All travelers can freely travel to Thailand without any COVID restrictions.
  • Travelers are not required to obtain Thailand Pass or Certificate of Entry (COE). There is no need to download any mobile app.
  • Travel Insurance is still highly recommended when you travel to Thailand.
  • Before you travel to Thailand, you should buy your travel insurance for your protection to cover your entire trip to Thailand. 

Travel Without Vaccine in 2023: Can You Still Travel If You’re Not Vaccinated?

Passport. Travelers who are unvaccinated or have not been fully vaccinated are also not required to submit evidence of negative RT-PCR test result before the departure nor after the arrival but must undergo quarantine and RT-PCR test on Day 5 before they are free to explore the country.

Rules for Unvaccinated Travelers: 2 Options

Option 1: 5 Days AQ/AHQ:

  • Passport
  • Travelers who are unvaccinated or have not been fully vaccinated are also not required to submit evidence of negative RT-PCR test result before the departure nor after the arrival but must undergo quarantine and RT-PCR test on Day 5 before they are free to explore the country.  
  • 5 days AQ or AHQ: prepayment of 5 days hotel booking confirmation along with 1 RT-PCR test and airport transportation.
  • Health Insurance Policy with no less than USD 10,000 coverage for medical expenses.
  • Registration via Thailand Pass (via https://tp.consular.go.th/) with the documents above.

Option 2: Exemption from quarantine:

  • Passport
  • Travelers who can present evidence of negative RT-PCR Test within 72 hours of the departure and can upload them on Thailand Pass System, will be free to enter the country and able to go anywhere they like. 
  • Health Insurance Policy with no less than USD 10,000 coverage for medical expenses.
  • Registration via Thailand Pass (via https://tp.consular.go.th/) with the documents above.

While residing in Thailand, all travelers who are vaccinated and unvaccinated are recommended to closely follow the health and safety measures. Those who experience suspected COVID symptoms should be tested. Anyone with a positive test result shall receive proper medical treatment.
